Play: My New Favorite GH II Song

I had previously unlocked this song in Guitar Hero II, but hadn’t got around to playing it. Last night I decided to open it up and give it a shot. Maybe it’s the chintzy synth played on keytar that reminds me of 80s inspirational music, or the rather cool arpeggios used to create much of the non-verse rhythm, but I can’t help but smile when I listen to the song. I’ll tell you what, though: it’s absolute murder trying to play this on Expert level, and it’s way up there with Freebird in difficulty.

Guitar Hero II is one of those games that is a little disjointed in its difficulty scaling. Easy and Medium are usually easy for players to cope with, but there’s a huge jump when going to Hard because of the addition of the fifth note and more complicated 2-3 note chords. I’m currently working my finger skills so that I can play on Hard, but I’m finding myself getting frustrated when I keep missing notes. Looks like there’s going to be a lot more practice time for me in the future.

The Devil’s Blog Reader

My current number of unread items on the Joystiq blog inside Google Reader. Looks like I better read something, quickly.

Deals: Toys R Us Super Mario Galaxy Special

Toys R Us are offering an in-store special on Super Mario Galaxy: Buy it and get any other Wii game of equal or lesser value for 50% off. We picked it up today, along with Raving Rabbids 2.

Currently, Mrs Teh Bagder is testing Super Mario Galaxy out to *cough* ensure that it’s suitable for the kids to play. So far, she’s loving it, but she’s a complete Mario Head so that’s no surprise. She’s going to go through withdrawal when we pack up the Wii tomorrow and wrap it up for Consumermas. It’ll sit below the Consumermas Tree and taunt her until just after Dec. 24th when she’ll be able to play the game again.

Unless of course, she gets up in the middle of the night, carefully unwraps both the Wii and the game, plays them with the sound off, and then re-wraps them before the rest of us wake up.

Deals: Wiimotes @ Wal*Mart

If you’ve managed to get your hands on a Wii for this Crimble, but you’re still missing out on a couple of Wiimotes or Nunchuks, you’ll probably find them at your local Wal*Mart. We managed to pick up two Wiimotes today. You’ll most likely find both those with and without the free glove on sale; those with a glove are in a box in the blister pack. Prices were $39.96 for one.

Administration: Changing The Tack

Sorry for the lack of updates. Things have been pretty hectic in the Bagder household over the past few months, and I’ve had a hard time focusing on the stuff that needs to be done, never mind the stuff that I want to do.

In saying that, I’m back to posting here, but I’m going to change things up a little. Instead of focusing heavily on finding and posting deals, which actually takes up a lot of time and energy, I’m going to post multiple types of content. I’ll still post deals, but rather than trying to just to copy ads and other sites that are out there, I’ll post links and articles on stuff that I think readers would find interesting. Being honest, I started to lose interest in posting a lot of deals because I was posting for the wrong reason. Instead of just posting stuff I thought people would like (the original idea behind the site), I started to post specific product links so that I could try and make a little bit of money and pay for hosting, and perhaps make a little bit of extra moolah for games. When you start thinking about posting for profit, it ends up becoming the driving force behind a blog, and when you don’t make much money, you start to lose interest in posting.

So, the upshot is, lots more content incoming on a regular basis, with a focus on it being interesting rather than being posted so that I can make a bit of moolah. I’ll also be posting around everything else going on in my life (family, work, school, gaming), so the site may be content heavy one day and less so another. Just FYI.
